For managers who have acquired this software for use in an organization, distributing this software to internal users must only be done with the understanding that an organization or business that uses this software is responsible for
- implementing policies that ensures the safe use of this software in respect to malicious attack and any sort of data loss,
- selecting only responsible and thoughtful persons within their organization to use this software, whenever it is used for purposes that are deemed critical or high value.
'CLOSE' COMMAND WARNING
The user acknowledges and accepts the risk associated with closing documents that have unsaved changes from the browser and agent-based desktop application. The user agrees that it is an acceptible amount of risk for them and, if applicable, their organization to take and understands that it is incumbent upon any User who uses this software for business or organizational purposes to get managerial approval if the loss of data can result in non-trivial losses to the organization or business.
The responsibility to avoid jeopardizing any high-value documents, along with any edits that are deemed invaluable, falls upon both the User, and any manager granting authorization for use of this software within their organization, so that it is the User and User's organization alone who can and must determine if a particular high-value document should be exposed to this method of control when it comes to opening and closing documents automatically.
The 'close' command will have the following behavior when the code is functioning properly:
For Mac Users:
- silent auto-close will be disabled by default.
- Mac desktop default behavior upon clicking 'close' is that a popup will warn users when they are closing a file or group of files, and advise them to double-check each file to assure that important changes are not lost
If users choose to enable auto-close, they must also make a choice as to which save action to take:
Mac desktop save actions are
- save and back-up any original with a unique name suffix
- save the original and back-up the latest with a unique name suffix
- save latest changes without backup
- The Windows desktop default behavior is that a WM_CLOSE message is sent to host applications. The software is designed with the assumption that if there are any unsaved changes, a forced shutdown will not take place, otherwise the host application will simply close the document because of it having recieved the WM_CLOSE.
- Windows desktop versions of the desktop software will not provide confirmation pop-ups or warnings with save actions since user is entirely in control and responsible for any documents that remain open because of unsaved changes.
By using this software you agree that the utility and benefit derived from the use of the application is significant and outweighs the potential loss of data because of unwittingly closing with changes that were not desired.
It is further acknowledged that the default from Apple to close and save for all applications without asking for confirmation is a shift away from the perception in software that occasional, incidental loss of data is often preferred in comparison to the inconvenience and sluggishness of having to confirm user intent each time a document is closed. You accept the risk that comes with the speed and convenience of being able to close not just single documents, but multiple documents in a group. You accept full responsibility for deciding when document edits will likely be critical in nature, to the degree that they should not be opened or closed from inside the desktop utility application.
By using this software you assert that you have assessed the range of options to choose from that set the behavior when it comes to auto-close and auto-save of files and groups of files. The understanding of this agreement is that defaults will be set such that no decisions on behalf of the user with regard to closing and saving file system resources, without the express permission given to do so during the use of the application via user settings and specific configuration being applied by the user to file protections related to auto-save and auto-close.
All of the above default behaviors are assumed on the predicated understanding that the code of a particular application version may or may not have regressions or bugs introduced into it. Users acknowledge that they are responsible to make sure that this behavior is ensured for each upgrade or download and installation that they implement on their desktops. This is in accordance with the 'As Is' provision of this agreement.
PAYMENT AND PRICING POLICIES
The payment plans are either monthly or one time only.
For each plan we provide pricing on the download page and with the downloaded account key.
By using the application you agree to the terms and conditions of this user agreement, including the payment provisions.
The unit pricing provided on the www.unitraverse.com website, can change at any time. The email receipt, and current price displayed at the time of registration and payment will govern any dispute, regardless of website price changes.
The unit pricing covers a single user on either a single or multiple machines with the following stipulation: It is agreed that a) the method used to determine that an authorized user has switched machines and is not an unauthorized user, is imperfect and b) may, from time to time, cause either invalid pop-up reminders asking for payment, or requiring that a replacement key is obtained and installed, or both. The User agrees and understands that to avoid the inconvenience of having to replace the account key, she or he may 1) purchase a second key or 2) send usage data every time a machine switch is made using the 'report usage' command.
Any lack of enforcement of this policy does not imply forfeiture of the right to invoke the policy or deprive these terms and conditions of their legal merit.
MODIFYING UNITRAVERSE DESKTOP SOURCE CODE
The User acknowledges that for any source code downloaded from Unitraverse.com, it is not done so with the purpose of allowing customers to disable the usage reporting, and obtaining of account payment status. THE USER SHALL NOT IN ANY WAY MODIFY THE SOURCE CODE FOR THE PURPOSE OF DISABLING THE PAY-UP POPUPS, WITH ONE EXCEPTION, WHICH IS IN THE CASE THE ACCOUNT PAYMENT STATUS IS UP-TO-DATE AND THE POPUPS CONTINUE TO APPEAR IN ERROR.
THE USER AGREES NOT TO MAKE CHANGES TO ANY FILES CREATED BY THE APPLICATION WITH THE INTENT OF SPOOFING OR OTHERWISE FOOLING THE APPLICATION SO AS TO PROLONG THE TRIAL PERIOD.
The User agrees that HE OR SHE BEARS FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOSSES OR DAMAGE ARISING OUT OF MODIFICATIONS WHICH THEY HAVE MADE TO THE SOURCE CODE.
With this understanding, Users are permitted to make any functionality changes to the Unitraverse Desktop Application source code, provided it is not for the purpose of disabling the above reporting and payment status checks, except in the special case of erroneous popup messages, and provided changes are not in any way malicious and that they are legal in all respects.
CHROME EXTENSIONS NOTIFICATION
User agrees not to install the Chrome extension (chrome-ext.crx) file using any method other than those described in the Installation steps of the documentation. The User acknowledges that damage to the reputation of the extension could cause harm to the Unitraverse Desktop application.
